What’s your trophy?
As a kid growing up in a sports-oriented household, I was always in pursuit of a trophy. The pursuit made its way through Little League Baseball to Pre-Teen Basketball and eventually into high school sports. I won my share, but I remember the ones that got away much more so than the ones I won.

Cloud Computing Killed the IT Department?
“Video killed the radio star” – The Buggles (1979). There was once a time when a company’s IT department was the gatekeeper of all things technology related. They would perform the research and due diligence, purchase a large software package, install the software on the servers or distributed hardware (both of which were purchased and managed by IT), and manage the access and licenses to the software. Discrimination is Good Business
Many companies have Directors of Diversity, programs created to celebrate diversity, and self-imposed watch dog groups empowered to monitor the current state of diversity. I applaud the spirit of these positions and organizations and their results. However, I believe the art of discrimination has gotten lost, to the point that I believe people are afraid of the word itself. I however, embrace discrimination and applaud its applied use in business. >>More>>
Business Improv
For the last six months I have been taking improvisation classes at Chicago’s Second City Theatre. When I signed up, my objective for taking these classes was to improve my public speaking, presentation, and off-the-cuff speaking skills and to gain comfort in settings when I am “on the spot”. I felt that by choosing to embark on this at Second City would not only provide me with that opportunity, but would provide me a little fun along the way! >>More>>

The Detrimental Effect of Technology on Project Communication
Two and a half decades ago, communication technology was revolutionized with the introduction of the brick phone. Early adopters of this technological coup flocked to the stores to immediately purchase these wondrous pieces of technology. Instantaneously, the shackles had been removed and humans were free to communicate on the go. Lucky individuals who first owned this revolutionary technology could connect with anyone they wanted from anywhere in the world. >>More>>
